Frequently Asked Questions
With Byewaste you can easily get rid of old or unused items. For this, you only have to follow the following steps:
- Download the Byewaste app from the app-store (available for Android and iOS).
- Sort the items that you want to get rid of. Put each category in a separate bag or box and close it well.
- Indicate which items are in the bag/box using the Byewaste stickers*/**.
- Choose a convenient date and time in the app for your free pick-up.
Place the bag or box on the pick-up day outside in front of your house. You do not need to stay at home.
*No stickers are needed for the first pick-up.
**You only have to use one sticker per item category, even when there are multiple boxes or bags of the same category.
We only pick up reusable or recyclable books, electronics, toys, textile and other small items that you would usually bring to the secondhand store.
The maximum size for items that we pick up is 35 x 55 x 55 cm (roughly the size of a microwave). There are currently no limitations for the number of bags.
We do not pick up small chemical waste, such as batteries and light bulbs, paint cans, medicines and needles, contaminated items, industrial waste, residual waste and bulky waste.
If you do not have Byewaste stickers at your disposal on the collection date, you can write “Byewaste” on a piece of paper and attach it to the bag. Do not forget to mention the item category (textile, electronics or mix).
Residents of Capelle aan den IJssel can pick up new stickers at thrift shop Het Goed (address: Kanaalweg 49, 2903 LR). You can also send us an email (email@example.com) to request new stickers. In the future, our driver will deliver a new sticker sheet in your letterbox when you use your last stickers.
You can leave the box(es) or bag(s) in front of the building that you live in. In the case of a flat, this could be on the sidewalk. Our drivers should not have to ring a doorbell to pick up your items. This way, you do not have to stay at home for the pick-up.
Your books, toys, textiles and other items will, if they are still in good condition, be reused through thrift store Het Goed. Your discarded (small) electrical appliances will be recycled and reused as raw materials. This is how we protect the environment.
Our drivers will pick up your items at the chosen time slot even when it rains. You can help us by putting them in a water-resistant box or bag.
You can make use of our service an unlimited number of times. However, for environmental reasons, it is advisable to collect as many items as possible at the same time and have them picked up simultaneously. This way, we reduce our ecological footprint by limiting the number of trips.
We apologize for the inconvenience, this should of course not have happened. Please report the incident to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will contact you as soon as possible to resolve the issue.
